ERIC Clearinghouse for Community Colleges

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI) and the National Library of Education, the ERIC network consists of 16 subject-specific clearinghouses, five adjunct clearinghouses, and four support components which collect and disseminate information on specialized fields in education. The ERIC Clearinghouse for Community Colleges is located at the University of California, Los Angeles.

American Association of Community Colleges

The American Association of Community Colleges is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's 1100 two-year degree granting institutions. The Association is a nonprofit organization located in the National Center for Higher Education in Washington, DC.

National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD)

NISOD is the outreach organization of the Community College Leadership Program, in the Department of Educational Administration, College of Education, at The University of Texas at Austin.

The TLT Group

TLT stands for Teaching and Learning with Technology. The TLT Group's mission is to motivate and enable institutions and individuals to improve teaching and learning with technology, while helping them cope with continual change. The nonprofit organization has its headquarters in Takoma Park, Maryland (just outside Washington, DC), plus part-time staff and Senior Associates around the world.

National Council for Continuing Education   Training

The National Council for Continuing Education   Training (NCCET) is a nonprofit organization which primarily serves public community colleges. NCCET provides leadership for continuing education, community service, workforce development, and distance learning professionals. The Council is committed to continuous quality improvement and to quality service as a change agent for lifelong learning.

National Council of Workforce Education

The National Council for Workforce Education is a private, nonprofit, professional organization committed to promoting excellence and growth in occupational education. As an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), NCWE provides a national forum for workforce and economic development professionals to affect and direct the future of work-related education globally, and the role of two-year colleges in this arena.

The National Community College Chair Academy

Created in 1990 for the purpose of advancing academic leadership for community and technical college chairs, deans, and other instructional leaders, the Academy was formed in direct response to the acutely limited leadership training opportunities for community   technical college department and division chairs. The Chair Academy focuses on preparing these academic leaders for their dual role as manager and administrator on the one hand and faculty member/advocate on the other.

Microsoft's Higher Education site features a web page devoted strictly to community college issues that features articles, model programs, news about training and certification, special grants and offers, new technology solutions, and links to other community college web sites.

World Lecture Hall

Distance Education Clearinghouse

This web site brings together distance education information and resources from Wisconsin, national and international sources. The Distance Education Clearinghouse is a service provided by the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Updated frequently.

Instructional Telecommunications Council (ITC)

ITC, is a national, nonprofit organization that represents postsecondary educational institutions that are involved in distance learning. An affiliated council of the American Association of Community Colleges, ITC represents over 500 educational institutions from across the United States and Canada. Members include community colleges, four-year institutions, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and individuals. You will find information about grant opportunities and national legislation that will affect distance educators, as well as research reports, periodicals, abstracts and articles about distance learning topics.
